What is Warhammer 40k?

Warhammer 40,000 (informally known as Warhammer 40K, WH40K, W40K or just 40K) is a science fantasy tabletop miniature wargame, produced by Games Workshop. The intellectual property also has expanded in recent years to include other related tabletop miniature games, video games, novels and animated features.

How did Warhammer 40,000 get its name?

Warhammer 40,000 took its name from Warhammer Fantasy Battle, which is a medieval fantasy wargame also produced by Games Workshop. Warhammer 40,000 was initially conceived as a science fiction counterpart to Warhammer Fantasy, and while they are not connected to each other in a shared universe, their settings share similar themes.

What's the difference between 30k and 40k?

On the tabletop 30k has some differences in the way army lists are built to represent the sizes of the legion. As you might have guessed 30K has no xenos rules, and guard is solar auxillia and mechanicum is mechanicum ( different units though to 40K )

How many books are there in Warhammer 40k?
